Business Address vs. Mailing Address: What Your Client's Admin (and Their Employees) Should Use
For agents: Address requirements trip up both Admins and employees — and the rules differ by role.
For the Employer Admin (Account Setup / Dwolla)
Business verification needs a physical street address Dwolla can verify:
- A PO Box will not work.
- A virtual office / “registered agent only” mailbox usually will not work.
- If the company has no separate commercial location, using a real home/physical street address is often acceptable — a mailbox service is not.
Separately, the Admin/controller is typically asked for their residential address (personal residence), which is not the same as “mailing address for junk mail.” Mixing a PO Box or virtual mailbox into either of these is a frequent cause of verification delays.
For each Employee
Employee address drives which state’s marketplace / shopping experience they see. Employees should enter where they actually live — not a PO Box and not someone else’s address “just for mail.” Using the wrong state/address can show plans they aren’t eligible for.
If an employee moves, they should update their address and tell their Admin. A state change can change which Shop marketplace path they are routed to.
Bottom line
Admin/business address = identity/funding verification (physical street). Employee address = where they live (marketplace eligibility). Mixing those up is the most common address-related onboarding friction.
