How Broker Admin CSV (Excel) Upload Works for Broker Assignments
For agents: Broker Admins use a spreadsheet upload on Broker Assignments to match employees to brokers (and capture enrollment spreadsheet details). Individual brokers cannot run this upload.
Who can use it / where
- Role: Broker Admin only
- Path: Partner Portal → Broker workspace → Broker Assignments
- Card: Import broker assignments
This tooling is used for certain partner programs (for example Gallagher-style broker programs). If you don't see Broker Assignments, you likely don't have Broker Admin access or your agency program doesn't use this feature.
What the upload does
- Matches each spreadsheet row to an employee already on StretchDollar
- Matches the row's agent/enroller name to a broker already in your agency
- On confirm, assigns that broker to the employee so they appear in the broker's Enrolled / In Progress views
- Stores the spreadsheet row data for that employee/broker pairing
Until assignment succeeds, brokers often cannot see those employees.
Step-by-step
- Open Broker Assignments.
- Download the enrollment template (Download .xlsx) — blank workbook with the expected headers on row 1 (
broker_management_template.xlsx). - Fill the workbook. Keep header names aligned with the template.
- Upload the completed .xlsx (drag/drop or browse). StretchDollar reads the first worksheet only.
- Review the match preview modal:
- Full match — employee + broker both found; these rows will be applied
- Incomplete / no match — fix the file and re-upload (these rows are not applied)
- Confirm upload for the full-match rows.
How matching works (most important)
Rows need a full match on both sides:
- Employee: First Name + Last Name + DOB must match an assignable employee already in StretchDollar
- Broker: AJG Agent/Enroller must match a broker name already invited/active in your Partner organization (name match is case-insensitive)
Assignable employees are generally those who are already enrolled with a coverage effective date on participating partner businesses — the spreadsheet does not create new employer employees by itself.
File requirements
- Format: .xlsx only (not .csv)
- First row = headers (use the template)
- Key matching columns: First Name, Last Name, DOB, AJG Agent/Enroller
- Dates: MM/DD/YYYY text or normal Excel date cells
- Suggested max size: about 10 MB
The template/workbook can include many other enrollment columns (address, plan, dependents, binder flags, etc.). Those can be stored with the upload, but matching/assignment hinges on the employee identity + agent/enroller columns above.
Troubleshooting
- Employee name / DOB rejected: spelling differs from StretchDollar roster, wrong DOB, or employee isn't assignable yet (not enrolled / missing coverage date).
- Broker name rejected: AJG Agent/Enroller text doesn't match the broker's name in Partner Portal (invite the broker first, or fix the spelling).
- Broker still can't see the employee after a green upload: confirm that employee's row was a full match and the broker is looking in the Broker workspace lists — see Broker Assignments: Why a Broker Can't See an Employee.
You can also assign brokers from the on-page employee table without a spreadsheet when you only need a few updates.
