Sent Quote vs Finalized Quote: Why Allowances Look Wrong After Signup

For agents: Sending a quote and finalizing a quote are different steps. Only finalization seeds the employer’s StretchDollar policy/allowances.

What each step does

  • Send: emails the prospect the proposal so they can review it.
  • Finalize: locks the accepted quote path, triggers the employer signup experience, and pre-fills allowances/classes/policy details into the new employer account.

Classic failure case

Employer signs up through a generic website signup / non-finalized path. Account is created, but quote allowances never attach → employee budgets look wrong or show as missing / “benefits pending.”

Product truth: only a finalized quote seeds employer policy data.

What to coach

  1. Confirm the quote was marked finalized (not only sent/viewed).
  2. Confirm the employer used the signup path tied to that finalized quote.
  3. If they already signed up without it, escalate to support@stretchdollar.com — policy/allowances may need correction before employees can enroll cleanly.
